Training Insight

Over the years, I’ve attended a lot of training: academic courses, manufacturers, and plenty of AV Industry certifications.

But one that has truly continued to pay dividends is my Extron Authorized Programmer Certification, which I earned back in March 2024.

Once you complete Extron’s programming levels and successfully pass the Authorized Programmer course (with a focus on Python programming), the learning doesn’t stop after the exam.

Every 4th Thursday of the month (excluding December), Extron delivers something incredibly valuable: an invite to a monthly online Python programming and technical training session.

It’s hosted by Extron employees, including one individual who is a legend in the AVTech world.

The depth of Python knowledge shared in these sessions is priceless—the type of insight you don’t get from a manual or YouTube video.

Training is an investment – Due to the economic shifts we’ve all felt over the past five years, I’ve learned to invest my training dollars wisely—focusing on platforms and skills that translate across multiple manufacturers (Apple / iOS). But Extron’s programming courses—especially the Authorized Programmer track—are in a category of their own. It’s one opportunity in AV education you don’t want to miss.
